Our work strengthens the confidence and competence of widows and their children to lead positive community transformation.
Core activities for widows
Every $4500 donated sponsors a 3-day training of 30 widows as Voice of Change Trainers on a specific capacity areas such as trauma healing, land rights, sustainable agriculture, financial literacy, micro-business, parenting, among others. We created our own widow-centric intervention called Voice of Change to that allows widows to tell their stories, critically analyze their lived experiences and design and implement social action projects to improve their wellbeing.
Every $500 donated facilitates monthly follow-up by Widow mentors and Nyanam staff for group counseling session with 64 leadership circles, reaching 1400 widows.
Every $400 donated helps a widow in her land ownership journey which includes, land conflict resolution, legal aid, and obtaining land title in her name.
Support activities for widows’ households
For every $30 donated, a widow is able to obtain a climate adaptive multistory kitchen garden to ensure fresh and continuous supply of vegetables for household food security and for additional income from sale of surplus vegetables.
For every $100 donated, a widow is able to obtain a climate adaptive money maker irrigation pump to ensure continuous food production in her farm.
Every $900 donated helps en entire leadership circle with 30 widows obtain their own multistorey gardens.
Every $4000 donated helps a widow and her children obtained dignified housing. We have partnered with Onsite ICF, a housing construction company, who will match every house Nyanam builds for a widow between 2023 to 2025.
Core activities for widows’ children
Every $100 donated for school fee support a widows’ child in enrolling or completing in secondary school education.
Every $50 donated helps a widows’ child access a dignity pack including a menstrual hygiene pack, underpants, and school supplies
Every $4500 donated sponsors a 3-day training of 30 youth mentors on a specific capacity area: comprehensive health, environmental stewardship, robotics and technology.
