INTERNATIONAL WIDOWS DAY
International Widows Day occurs annually on June 23 and it is a day deemed by the United Nations to recognize and address the "poverty and injustice faced by millions of widows and their dependents in many countries.”
This year, we are hosting our first celebration dinner of widows in Nairobi on the eve of International Widows day.

This dinner serves a triple purpose: to introduce you to the impactful work of Nyanam; to celebrate the remarkable widows who embody resilience and strength, and to raise funds to extend our support to more widows.

NYANAM’S CELEBRATIONS ON INTERNATIONAL WIDOWS DAY
Starting from 2019, we have hosted annual International Widows Day celebrations in Kisumu Kenya. In addition to our first celebration dinner in Nairobi, we will have a one-day celebration of widows in Kisumu on June 23rd.
This Kisumu celebrations will bring together over 500 Nyanam widows and will be implemented in partnership with and Kisumu County Department of Social Development and Ministry of Health Kisumu West sub-County. The MoH will bring preventative reproductive health services to the widows in attendance. The Kisumu event is funded by Women In the Window International and Imago Dei Fund.
This event will celebrate the remarkable widows we serve, who embody resilience and strength, and will highlight their positive social transformation within their communities.
